Just like mother’s day, again I am really behind on blogging about father’s day. I think part of it is because it takes me so long to really write down all that I feel for the ones that I love most. I can promise you that I have started writing this post several times. I can never seem to get it perfect enough.
Where do I even start? My dad is the kind of guy that you see at gatherings or parties who is always laughing, telling jokes, and captivating an entire audience with his life stories. His smile and laugh are undoubtedly the most contagious of the family. He always tries to keep laughter in everybody. He is a very generous and loving man, and I have been extremely grateful to be a recipient of that love. I have so many fond memories of just me and my dad. When I was really little, before Cody was born, my dad and I would go on daddy daughter dates to Nickelcade. There was one game that we would play almost the entire time we were there because my dad was so amazing at it. I remember always being so proud to see him beat that game, and thinking, “yep, that’s my dad!”
I remember growing up, and really looking up to my dad. I still do today, but I distinctly remember the very powerful words “JayDee, I am very disappointed in you” whenever I would do wrong. He would look at me with those deep gray eyes and those words would pierce into my heart. At those times, I had never felt more disappointed in myself, and sick that I had let down my dad. I hated hearing those words, but now I love knowing that my dad loved me so much that he would say them, and teach me so much through those powerful words. I really admired the way that he could punish me without having to do or say anything more than that. Of course, he still did, but those words put me back in my place better than any grounding ever could. It is so hard for me to explain the respect that I have for my father and the way he raised me. He has taught me so much. I could never thank him enough for all the love, support, and respect that he has given me throughout the years. Dad, thank you. You mean the world to me.
Happy father’s Day Dad!

Awe,
JayDee that is so sweet of you and now I can say how proud I am of you and not disappointed. You have made so many great choices in your life and have shown that you are a strong daughter of God.
Thanks for the tribute. It made my day and I love you more than you will understand until you have your own kids. Then you will have an idea. Hint Hint... I want a Grand Kid. !!
