New Jersey Trip

The time finally came! We had been saving our pennies for quite a while to make the trek to New Jersey where Spencer and Nancy live. This was a much needed vacation, and an amazing one too! We got to fly out to New Jersey for Thanksgiving week, and spend some good quality time with our family. We hadn't seen Spencer and Nancy since our wedding which was a year and a half ago, so we had a lot of catching up to do! We stayed up late every night, played lots of games, and laughed more than ever before. We had so much fun getting to know little Kaden again, and meeting baby Perry for the first time! (What a cutie!) Now that Matt and I are home, we walk around the house quoting cute little things that Kaden says. Boy do we miss that little guy!

While we were there, we visited Philadelphia for a day which included seeing the Independence Hall visitors center, The Liberty Bell, and the US Mint, and The Unknown Soldier Grave site. Matt and Spencer also got to experience their very first street vendor "true Philly cheese steak". I wasn't allowed to have one because of the pregnancy. We decided it was best that I didn't eat something "unknown". We didn't want to risk me getting sick. Overall, it was a good trip to Philadelphia, but NOTHING like our day trip to New York!

We took the subway into New York for a day and where able to do initiatory at the Manhattan Temple. It was a lot of fun, and a great way to begin our busy day! The temple there is so small, the actual temple work is done on the 5th level, and other levels include a stake center, and a distribution center. Very different than the temples here! It was beautiful though. We then went to Time Square. I had a blast; Matt thought it was too busy, but had fun too. We were able to visit the M&M World (my favorite!), Hershey store, NBC Studios, lots and lots of street vendors, Rockefeller Center, and then we ended up in China town. After our day of adventures, we decided to make one last stop to the World Trade Center Memorial. Sadly, when we got there, there was nothing to see. Apparently they are starting construction on the new building to replace the twin towers.

While we were in New Jersey, we got to enjoy a wonderful thanksgiving with Spencer, Nancy, and Matt's mom and dad. It was a delicious thanksgiving! Thanks Spencer and Nancy for all your hard work! Side note: Nancy makes the best pumpkin roll Matt and I have ever tasted, and we couldn't get enough of it!

On the following Sunday, we got to see Perry get blessed. What an amazing experience! He is such a special little boy, and I can't wait to see what his future holds for him. He is a very blessed boy to be born into such a great family with great parents and big brother.
Thank you Spencer and Nancy for having us out to your home! We really loved being there, and seeing you guys again. We love you and miss you so much! We are counting down the days until we see you again.
