Things to Remember

These are some highlights of my pregnancy with Cambri. I wrote this for her, so when she is having her own babies one day, I can share my own memories with her.
  • I wasn't ready to have you. I'll be very honest, I was terrified to have a second child. The Lord had other plans for us, and He made them very clear to your dad and I. We will never forget that day.
  • I suspected I was pregnant, so I hid a few pregnancy tests in the shopping cart, and successfully bought them without Dad noticing. It took me a week to work up the bravery to take one of them. It was negative. At that very moment I realized how much I really did want to have another baby. I was so devastated that the test didn't show me that little pink +. This was a very big day for me.
  • We tried for 2 months. When I found out I was pregnant, Dad was not with me. He was napping and so was Parker. I snuck out of the house and went on a little shopping spree. I found a few gender neutral outfits and a "World's Best Brother" shirt for Parker. When I got home, I wrapped the test and the outfits, and put your brother in his new shirt. I gave the gift to Parker, and had him take it to your Dad to wake him up. It was a happy day. We then made cinnamon rolls as a family to celebrate our new "bun in the oven" -a tradition we started when we found out we were pregnant with Parker.
  • Dr. Barney was my doctor, and he was absolutely fabulous. He generously let us have several ultrasounds, and gave us lots of pictures of you. We found out we were having a girl at 16 weeks. We were thrilled. Your dad and I both suspected you were a girl, but we didn't want to get our hopes up. We also told friends and family we were pregnant at 16 weeks.
  • In the womb, you generally stayed on the right side of my stomach. You HATED when I would sleep on my left side. If I would roll over in the night, you would kick me non-stop until I would roll back over onto my right side. Picky little thing you were!
  • I was very nauseous with you. I would get sick with a moments notice. I lost my meals more times than I wanted to count.
  • My favorite treat was a big glass of orange juice and a chocolate bar. The combination was heavenly. Dad would look at me with disgust every time. :)
  • You waved at me during one of the ultrasounds.
  • I got kidney stones when I was 30 weeks along. It was the worst pain I have ever experienced before. I spent several hours in the ER on 3 different occasions, was on lots of medication and was put on temporary bed rest until I passed the stones. It took a week and a half.
  • Dad and I picked your name together. I remember reading the name Ambri on a nursery door at church when I was a teenager, and I fell in love with the name. Dad said the name was missing something, and added the C.
  • During my entire pregnancy with you, I had horrible nightmares every night. I woke up hyperventilating and/or screaming on several occasions. It was not one of my favorite parts of your pregnancy.
