Cambri's Birth Story

The day FINALLY came! It felt like it never would.

We woke up bright and early and called the hospital to find out what time we would be going in for my induction. Riverton Hospital had a busy night, so we had to wait until 9:30 a.m. to go in. (longest 3 1/2 hour wait of my life!) Once we got to the hospital, I was set up in our room, and hooked up to an IV.  Our nurse (bless her heart) had a really difficult time getting my IV in and ended up poking me several times, causing a HUGE ugly bruise on my right arm. It was painful. After I was all settled, Matt left to get some bagels for everyone and I relaxed. :) We ended up getting a different nurse, Danylle, who I LOVED. She was fantastic, not to mention hilarious! Danylle started my pitocin around 10:30, and gave me a higher dose every half an hour. Once I was roughly 4 cm (around 11:30) my doctor broke my water, and I was given the epidural. Shortly after that, my sister-in-law and mom showed up, and the waiting game began! We had a lot of fun messing around with the hospital equipment, taking funny pictures, and having great conversations. We got pretty bored, therefore we had to be really creative to make the time pass quickly. (Those pictures need their own post)

With this delivery, my epidural wasn't as strong. I was still completely numb from pain, but I was able to move my legs a bit, and feel pressure when a contraction would come. This was something very different from my delivery with Parker. I absolutely loved it!

As my labor progressed, so did every other mother-to-be. The hospital was extremely busy. We were very lucky that we went into the hospital when we did, otherwise they would have turned us away, and scheduled us to be induced on a different day. After I was admitted, several women went into labor naturally, and ended up filling every single delivery room. Nurses were hopping everywhere! It was pretty busy. Cambri was one of FOUR babies that were born withing minutes of each other.

Around 2 p.m. I started feeling a lot of pressure, and felt like I was completely dilated. I called for Danylle to check me, but she was busy with another patient, so my first nurse returned to check me quickly. She said I was only at a 6. I didn't say anything, but I questioned her judgement. I was at a 6 the last time Danylle checked me, and I KNEW I had progressed. I wouldn't have felt that much pressure otherwise. When Danylle came in 5 minutes later, I asked her to check me again, just to see. And I was a 9!!! That other nurse failed me again... bless her heart. Danylle called Dr. Barney, and then she proceeded to get everything ready for the delivery. At this point, I think it really hit for Matt and I that we were going to be parents again. That we would be welcoming another baby into this world. It was a very surreal moment. Of course we knew we were having another baby, but at that moment, time just stopped and we were feeling every emotion possible. It was incredible.

I was feeling a lot of pressure and felt the need to push, but was told to cross my legs because Dr. Barney wasn't there yet. We ended up having to wait 40 minutes for him to get there! I was dying! While we waited, everyone was in position and ready to go. Dr. Barney finally walked into the room, and everything started to happen so fast. Within minutes, he was ready, and I was pushing. Cambri was born 2 contractions later. The delivery went incredibly smooth. Cambri was born at 3:19 p.m. and was placed in my arms shortly after. She was absolutely beautiful. There is nothing more precious than holding a newborn, especially when it is your own, and knowing she came straight from Heaven. It was a very emotional day; one that will forever be unforgettable.

Once things calmed down, and I was moved into the postpartum wing of the hospital, Parker was able to come meet his new little sister. I was terrified for this moment to come. I didn't know how Parker would react, and was nervous he wouldn't do well. He wasn't really interested in Cambri at all the first day, but with each day, he grew more curious. He now absolutely loves his "princess" as he calls her. He is very protective of her, and loves to give her hugs and kisses.

We love you Cambri Nicole, and are so excited to have you join our family.
